Leader’s Public Question Time, 6.30pm on 22nd October

“Dear secretary/chair

Please note the invitation to you and your association below about a very exciting upcoming event. It is necessary to register as detailed.

We look forward to as many as possible attending. Be careful to respond as below, not to me though we will be sending reminders.

Dear Committee member

I am writing to let you know about an event coming up that I would like to get as many local people involved in as possible.

For the first time, we’re going to be holding a Leader’s Public Question Time, where the public can hold myself and the cabinet directly to account.

The event will be taking place at 6.30pm on 22 October at City Hall, the home of the Greater London Authority in SE1. Jumoké Fashola, award-winning radio and television broadcaster, famed jazz singer and Southwark resident will chair the debate and keep the questions and answers moving.

I am very excited for this opportunity for Southwark residents to put questions directly to me about the issues that really matter to them. I’m looking forward to a challenging, exciting discussion that I hope will give residents a different type of forum to make their views heWe expect this to be a very popular event so I wanted to offer you the chance to register your interest in attending. Email councilnews@southwark.gov.uk to do so. You can also send in your questions beforehand to this same address or send questions via twitter using the hashtag #askpeterjohn to @lb_southwark

More details can be found at http://www.southwark.gov.uk/askpeterjohn

Please do also share with your networks, as we want to give all our residents the chance to attend.

Yours sincerely
Cllr Peter John
Leader of Southwark Council”

Committee Meeting, Tuesday September 16th

7.00pm – 8.30pm at
Tabard Community Hall
4 Hankey Place
SE1 4BE

New committee officers and committee members were elected at the AGM on 30th August, so part of the meeting will be to discuss how we can work together to help improve the Tabard North area.

We will also discuss ideas for a ‘Greener Cleaner Safer’ funding application. Over the past few years we have successfully applied for funding for projects for improved lighting, gardening projects, and cycle lockers. This year we worked with Grassroot Garden to improve a grot spot at Shere House with a ‘sculpture garden’ based on themes from A Canterbury Tale – visit their website:

More information on Cleaner Greener Safer can be found on Southwark Council’s website:

http://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200256/cleaner_greener_safer/1554/applications

There also will be an update on the introduction of a parking permit scheme.
