Noisy neighbours?

In response to residents needs, Southwark Council have expanded their noise team. Although most of us are considerate of our neighbours, some spoil things for everyone else. If you have a noise issue, don’t grin and bear it, contact the council’s noise team for help. The team respond to reports quickly and will take enforcement action whenever necessary. If you are being disturbed by noise or nuisance you can call the 24 hour Contact Centre on 0207 525 5777 to report the problem.

The hours of operation of the noise team are as follows:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7.00am to 2.30 am

At weekends the service operates for 24 hrs., from 7.00am on Friday through to 2.30 am on Monday morning.

During operational times, the Noise & Nuisance Team will aim to visit within 60 minutes of receiving the call and take action to reduce the noise. However, if your call is received by the Contact Centre outside of operational hours, an Officer will call to discuss the issue the next working day.

Leaseholders Association of Southwark.

The Leaseholder’s Association of Southwark was set up in the year 2000, combining two existing leaseholder associations.

LAS2000  is a body that proactively seeks to promote the interests of local authority homeowners and focuses on the issues that surround the local authority homeowners of Southwark which include:

  • Large Major Works and Annual Service Charge estimated & actual invoices.
  • Not knowing who to contact in the council.
  • Understanding the terms of the lease.
  • Not understanding the S20 consultation process and calculation sheets supplied by LBS.
  •  Applications to the First Tier Tribunal (formerly Leasehold Valuation Tribunal).

LAS2000 also represents the interests of local authority homeowners in consultations with the London Borough of Southwark (LBS) and other bodies as necessary and can request information from LBS and make recommendations regarding contractors, service provision, maintenance and management.

LAS2000 is a not for profit organisation that is self funded and completely independent of LBS and as such is able to challenge LBS’s decisions up to and including by taking legal action.
