Southwark Council Apprenticeships, drop-in session, 24th August

Southwark Council will be holding an event at the Peckham Job Centre Plus promoting up and coming apprenticeship opportunities within the organisation.

Where: Peckham Jobcentre Plus 24-26 Peckham High Street, Peckham, London, SE15 5DS

Date and Time: Wednesday 24 August 2016, 10.30am-1pm.

The councils Customer Contact Centre will shortly be advertising 10/12 apprenticeship positions. 1 year fixed term contracts with a starting salary of £18,555 per annum. Apprentices will achieve a Level 3 qualification in Housing Practice (Chartered Institute of Housing nationally recognised qualification)

The drop in session will give potential applicants a chance to speak with current apprentices/managers to receive some information and advice on applications and how to register to receive future job notifications.

Applicants must..

  • Be 16+ years (no upper age limit)
  • Have 5 GCSES or equivalent including English and Maths A-C grade (overseas qualifications recognised) and have copies of the original certificates
  • Be able to work fulltime (36hrs per week)

Relaunch Event of Southwark Youth Employment Forum – 22nd September

YEF Background: The forum was set up for the purpose of bringing together partners and providers who have a common interest in tackling youth employment issues in Southwark. Our aim is to develop a joined up partnership approach to providing employment support for young people, and to re-design the forum to meet the needs of its current and future members.

Event Details: The evening will commence with a drinks and canapé reception from 6pm, followed by an opening performance and presentation at 6:15pm. Interactive activities will be taking place throughout the evening allowing the attendees to participate in discussions around youth employment.

Job opportunity – Childcare Adviser.

Childcare Adviser Salary £28,500 – £30,500 pro-rata, depending on experience

As part of our work to support parents and lone parents back into work, through our Families Matter employment team, we are seeking a new part time Childcare Adviser who can support the team to facilitate access to more Educational/school/ childcare vacancies and work placements by approaching and working directly with local organisations/ employers – e.g. nurseries, schools, after school clubs etc and who can also advise clients and other advisers about childcare issues/ policy changes etc. A minimum of 2 years experience of working with parents returning to work or working in Children’s Services on Childcare/Early Years issues and with a clear understanding of national and local childcare funding/ policy and legislation

A relevant qualification in childcare, early years or education, or a Degree

Experience and track record of meeting targets and KPIs
