Air pollution in London – have your say

tfl

Transport for London and the Mayor of London would like your views on proposals to introduce a new £10 daily Emission Surcharge (also known as the “T-charge”) in 2017. This would be for cars, vans, minibus and heavy vehicles registered in 2005 and older. This would be in addition to the Congestion Charge.

Additionally, we would like your views on changes to the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), a separate scheme that will replace the Emissions Surcharge and will have stricter emissions standards for vehicles. These changes include:
Introducing a central London ULEZ in 2019 rather than 2020
Extending the zone up to the North and South Circular in 2019 or later
Extending the zone London-wide for heavy vehicles only in 2019 or later

To find out more and have your say, visit tfl.gov.uk/airquality-consultation

The consultation ends on Sunday 18 December.

Yours sincerely,
Alex Williams
Acting Managing Director Planning

OBVNF Neighbourhood Plan First Draft

Ater a long period in gestation we have now compiled a draft neighbourhood plan for the Old Bermondsey area.  This is the product of our various working groups who have each contributed suggestions in their respective policy areas.  There is considerable further refinement still to be done but the document as it stands will be sent to Southwark Council for comment once we have received any feedback from the local community.  If you have any further suggestions for policies that you think should be included or other comments please let us have them by email to: consultation@oldbermondseyforum.org Our intention is to pass the draft to Southwark Council by Friday 14 October so please let us have feedback as soon as possible.  There will be further opportunity to shape the plan at forthcoming meetings but anything not included at this stage will not go before the Council for their input and thus we will not have any indication on their receptivity to further inclusions.

Intrigue: James Ensor by Luc Tuymans opens 29th October at the RA

Enter the theatrical and macabre world of
James Ensor

‘…two greats of the kingdom come together; with contemporary painter
Luc Tuymans curating the work of his 20th-century predecessor,
the rhapsodic, exuberant, expressionist James Ensor’.
The Guardian.

The theatrical, the satirical and the macabre come together in arresting fashion in the art of James Ensor. An innovator and an outsider, Ensor rebelled against the conservative art teachings of the late 19th century academy in Brussels, drawn instead to the avant-garde salons where his radical creative vision could thrive.

Acquaint yourself with Ensor and his work in our Beginners Guide.

Exhibition opens 29 October. Friends of the RA go free.
