Response from Pascale Mitchell of Chaucer Greens regarding ASB on Tabard Gardens

Dear Peter and residents  of Tabard Gardens North T&RA,

Thank you for contacting us.

My name is Pascale Mitchell I am very sorry to hear about the Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) you have been  experiencing.

As a person who has lived here for the past 30 years, in council/ social housingI have experienced ASB in many different ways. I agree that there needs to be a plan put in place to listen to residents needs. I recently attended a T&RA at which a Residents Service Officer was present. Although steps like this have been taken to connect the council with residents I believe that this is not sufficient.

Residents need full access to the a list of contacts who deal with individual issues. I experienced ASB for many years which included my children being subjected to attacks and a fire in my block. It was being connected to the correct person that enabled the situation to be addressed. This is something that enabled us to be removed from the situation.

I would like to hold community assemblies with residents on issues they are having problems with. To try to find solutions collectively and so residents can discuss and share their experiences.

I would love to attend your meetings if elected. I have worked with T&RA’s in the past and helped residents in Nunhead to set one up as part of a campaign to stop rooftop builds and infills on their estate. This was very successful, we won. This was fighting for resident led development.

I would also like to address the increased ASB in the community. Having two children have their phones taken within 4 months I understand how crime is impacting on community.

I would also love to help you reopen your community hall in Hankey place. It is so important that you have a space for coming together and for the wider community to come together.

I look forward to working with you all should I get elected on May 7th.

Kind Regards

Pascale Mitchell
