THE EY EXHIBITION: WIFREDO LAM
Discover the fascinating career of Wifredo Lam in a new retrospective at Tate Modern.

One of the most iconic Cuban artists of the twentieth-century, Lam’s distinctive style shook the assumptions of western Modernism as he mixed avant-garde art with Caribbean culture.

Now, in our increasingly connected world, Lam’s globally inspired work feels more relevant than ever before.

Want to make someone’s day? Talk to people, share your knowledge or gain new skills?

As a Volunteer Visitor Host you’ll offer a warm welcome to our visitors, chat to them about what’s on in the gallery and help them make the most out of their visit to Tate.

Volunteering at Tate is fun, you’ll spend time in a great place, meet new people and have the chance to learn and develop new skills. It’s also a manageable commitment – just a few hours a month.

We welcome all enquiries from the local community, no matter what your background or experience – you just need to enjoy helping other people and want to be part of the gallery.

Visit Tate and find out more at one of our Volunteer Taster Sessions:

Wednesday 17th February, Tate Modern
15.00- 16.30

or

Saturday 20th February, Tate Modern
12.00-13.30

At the Taster Session we’ll introduce you to the gallery and our current volunteer opportunity: Volunteer Visitor Host – a welcoming front of house role positioned at the gallery entrances at Tate Modern.

To book a place on a Taster Session please email volunteer@tate.org.uk with your preferred date.

For more information about the Visitor Host role please contact Emma Burgess and Frances Robinson, Volunteers Managers on 020 7401 5267 or email emma.burgess@tate.org.uk and/or frances.robinson@tate.org.uk

Places are limited, but we’ll hold more Tasters in future. We’ll reimburse your travel costs up to the cost of a Zone 6 Travelcard.

Our volunteer opportunities are like our art galleries, open to all.

Frank Auerbach at Tate Britain, 9 October 2015 – 13 March 2016

Auerbach-lead-22

Frank Auerbach has made some of the most vibrant, alive and inventive paintings of recent times. Often compared to Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud in terms of the powerful nature of his work, his depictions of people and the urban landscapes near his London studio show him to be one of the greatest painters alive today.

‘Get smacked in the face by the terrifying glory of the world Auerbach is stunned by every morning’
**** The Guardian

‘Frank Auerbach’s work emerges in all its rude, raw power in this astonishing new retrospective’
**** The Telegraph
