Getting into television can seem almost impossible on so many different levels. While the application and interview process can be notoriously challenging and competitive, it can be just as hard to even find those opportunities to apply for in the first place! As a new entrant, it’s not easy to work out which companies take on trainees, apprentices and interns, and if so, at what time of year and how to apply. And what if you love telly, are full of ideas and know you’ve got the right attitude, but don’t have any experience? Where can you get a chance to try things out and find out where your strengths and interests lie?

These are the questions we’re aiming to help you answer on Monday 26 January, when we’ll be hosting the first ever RTS Futures Training Fair. For one evening, we’ll be bringing together under one roof a formidable range of organisations offering entry routes into telly, all keen to meet you! Confirmed exhibitors include the BBC, Channel 4, Creative Access, Discovery, Disney, ITV, Latimer Group, Mama Youth, Media Trust/London 360, The Network, Procam, RDF, Roundhouse/Bloomberg, Sara Putt Associates and Sky, with possibly a few more exciting names to join.

IMPORTANT : It is free to attend this fair however you must register as an RTS Member using your membership number before booking your ticket. Membership of the RTS is also free. Follow the advice and links, complete the application process and book your attendance. Follow @RTS_Futures on Twitter & hashtag #RTSCareers

advicelocal website

The advicelocal website (www.advicelocal.org.uk) has just launched a new set of resources covering Employment issues, including many borough based services, covering local work and training opportunities.

Developed in response to user feedback (and with support from Trust for London), our new resources cover a wide range of employment topics, including national information on employment rights and other work related matters.

Our advicefinder database helps the public identify borough based organisations that support people in finding work, as well as those organisations offering assistance to people who need legal help with Employment matters.

We hope you find the new Employment resources useful, and would be happy to get your feedback. If you know of other resources that it would be helpful for us to link to please do let us know.

In addition any support you can provide in helping to publicise our new resources both within your council and amongst your contacts would be very much appreciated.

All the best
